As part of a new initiative with local primary and secondary schools DHF are proud to announce we are supporting Sam Mace, a hammer thrower from Hinchley Wood. Here is Sam’s story:
Sam Mace has been involved in athletics since the age of 8 competing in the majority of the sports disciplines.
In recent times he has concentrated in the throws in which he holds 2 National records, won 2 National titles, 4 National silver medals, achieved 7 UK Number 1 rankings, represented England in the UK School Games winning bronze and the Schools International where he won silver. He has also won 23 Surrey Titles with 5 Championship Best Performances and 4 All Time Surrey records. In 2017 Sam was awarded the Dixon Trophy by the Association of British Hammer Throwers for the Youth with most promise.
Sam is concentrating in the hammer throw, training 5 times per week to develop technical skills and build his strength and enhance conditioning. He travels throughout the UK to compete both in his own age group and at the senior level. The funding provided by the Dylan Howells is greatly appreciated supporting Sam to travel and compete at the highest level with high standard equipment and clothing.
