DHF are proud to announce we are supporting Finian Morris – an Optimist-class sailor from Weybridge, Surrey – with his aims to compete at National level for Britain this year, and the ultimate goal of going to the Olympics. Here is Finian’s sporting story in his own words:
I am a young sailor from Weybridge in Surrey. Ever since I could walk and talk I have been passionate about sailing. Luckily enough for me it is in my blood with both parents sailing competitively and a boatbuilding Grandpa. I started sailing when I was 3 and sail a class of boat for under 15’s called an Optimist. Here is the class website which contains information on events and much more: http://www.optimistsailing.
My next big events are the Irish Nationals where I will be on the team representing Britain, the UK nationals in Pwllheli and the French Nationals. Before these events I will be taking part in open meetings and continuing to train with my coach.
The support that the DHF has given me will improve my performance by paying for better coaching, equipment and opportunities. Over the last few years I have taken part in numerous competitions and training events. I have represented Britain and come top placed for my age group on many occasions. My next goal is to better my ranking and qualify for the national squad. My ultimate goal is to go to the Olympics.
Good luck Finn, from all at DHF!
