Things are very busy in the gym after a very successful 12 week course in conjunction with Surrey Police – we are also in discussion about various other female boxing programmes and with Elmbridge Council about boxing sessions for people with Parkinson’s.
The regular season started again towards the end of September and we currently have 10 young carded boxers for the season who will be competing including our 17 year old boxer from Chechen Ackmad. The medicals are done and I will be looking to match the boxers on local shows very soon. Ackmad is already Surrey champion at 75kg this season and would have boxed in the southern counties final but for coming in over weight on the day.
All the coaches have just attended a new safeguarding course and have updated DBS, First Aid and Safeguarding courses valid for the next 3 years along with their coaching badges.
Leo is a 12 year old boy who attended the police sessions and is now coming to sessions 3 times a week – he has been nominated for the up & coming Elmbridge Sports Awards in November.
