This past half term week has been a really busy one for Mai!
She started the week by successfully completing her 4th England trial in Cambridge. The next stage will be a two-day camp in early April and they will then select the team who will be travelling to compete in Bratislava in June. From there Mai went on to a two-day camp at Ozone Hockey in Bracknell where she learnt some new skills and techniques that she will be putting into action very soon. As if that wasn’t enough, Mai went straight from there to a two-day Elite girls camp in Cardiff where she spent the time in small groups working on stick skills and drills. She also enjoyed some hockey related yoga, gym workouts and virtual reality training using the VR headsets!
All this hard work is paying off, as Mai has been selected to compete in the IIHF Global Games – where players are chosen from all over the country to play a game of hockey at the same time as teams from around the world. The majority of players chosen are already from the current GB team with a very small number from standard selection. There will be lots of GB coaches and officials there who will be scouting for players for the national team and we have no doubt that Mai will impress.
We wish her every success and look forward to the next update.
